~DOME TOUR~

The Top of the Dome at the Bottom of the World!

Near twilight a small band of motivated polies have removed the flag-pole that has sat perched atop the South Pole Dome for over 25 years. It has taken this long for the rope to break and a fated American Flag to go missing, blown across the Antarctic Plateau.
Metal cable replaced the old rope and the flag pole was returned to it's rightful place, centered between the five gaping holes that fall to the dome floor. A new flag was flown aloft and once again the Dome was whole.
As well as the flag, you can see there are various communications antennas that require maintenance throughout the year. Summer or winter, there is always work to be done on top of the dome. Make sure you're safe up there and have fun on the rest of your Tour!
